Grenade event in Philippines on Sat 18th July 2026

On 18 July 2026, 2 Scout Rangers and 3 civilians were wounded in an explosion from a grenade thrown by suspected BIFF militants in Barangay Poblacion (Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao). The soldiers were in a military truck and on the way to a routine marketing mission to another town when they were attacked. Authorities believed the incident was a retaliatory attack following the death of a ranking BIFF leader, who founded the Bungos faction, during an encounter with the military (coded separately).
