On 20 July 2026, around 2:45 am Muscat time, IRGC forces launched an unspecified double strike (coded as drones) that directly impacted the Kavomaleas oil products tanker (IMO: 1042823) around 6 nm northwest of Kumzar (coded to Coast of Kumzar) (Khasab, Musandam), setting the vessel on fire. The vessel's crew abandoned ship and were safely rescued by a tugboat. The IRGC set that they struck 2 vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, setting them on fire, for attempting to pass through the strait under the 'incitement and pressure' of the US military. Only the attack on Kavomaleas has been confirmed. There were no casualties.
