On 21 July 2026, the Malian army claimed to have conducted an airstrike targeting the base of an armed group (described as 'terrorist' and likely JNIM, based on the militant activity as well as previous similar operations against the group in the area) in the Kongosambougou forest, located 40 km from Didieni and coded to the nearest most populated location, Wenia (Didieni, Kolokani, Koulikoro). The army claimed to have destroyed the base and a large stockpile of military equipment. Casualties unknown.
