On 15 July 2026, an unidentified drone crashed and exploded in an open area within the container yard of the Grand Port in Al-Faw city (Al Basrah), causing limited material damage. The drone was of unknown origin, likely heading toward Kuwait. It crashed due to a technical malfunction. The wreckage caught fire. Port operations were not disrupted. Security forces opened an investigation. There were no casualties.
