On 16 July 2026, morning, U.S. forces conducted repeated waves of air/drone strikes targeting the Air Base and areas in Bandar Abbas International Airport (Bandar-Abbas, Hormozgan), causing multiple explosions, activating Iranian air defenses, and resulting in a temporary power outage in parts of the city. The airstrikes by the US were a retaliation for the Iranian military attack against commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz (coded separately). Casualties unknown.
