On 15 July 2026, suspected Military forces of Sudan were accused of conducting a drone strike inside the open-pit gold mining site owned by the Canadian Allied Gold Mine company in Kirmuk (Kurmuk, Asosa, Benshangul/Gumuz), killing an unspecified number of the company workers and 1 bulldozer driver (fatalities uncorroborated).
