IED event in Colombia on Thu 16th July 2026

On 16 July 2026, in Tibu (Norte de Santander), unidentified perpetrators sent two explosives with drones to a military base, they also detonated a car bomb in the La Uno area, 500 meters away from the base. The car bomb exploded near a gas station, severely affecting the infrastructure, but not hurting anyone. There is presence of the ELN and the 33rd Front of the FARC Dissidence in the area and early intelligence signals that the ELN could be responsible for the assault, but nothing is confirmed yet. The are conflicting versions about the casualties, as some sources report that several civilians, including a minor, were injured during the event, while others report that there were no injuries. There were no fatalities.
