The prosecutor's office is investigating another crime by the occupiers - the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the Donetsk region.

Details: According to the investigation, on July 13, 2026, at 2:42 p.m. in the area of the village of Yalta, Komarsky rural community, representatives of the Russian occupation army captured a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After interrogation, one of the occupiers gave the order to execute the Ukrainian defender, and the other shot him with a firearm.

A pre-trial investigation has been initiated in criminal proceedings into the commission of a war crime that caused the death of a person (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Urgent investigative (search) actions are currently being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the individuals from among the Russian military personnel involved in the commission of the specified crime.

Literally: "The killing of prisoners is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a grave international crime."
