Terrorists flee, abandon bicycles, supplies as troops advance in Askira Uba

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with local hunters, have forced suspected Boko Haram terrorists to flee during a clearance operation in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, leaving behind logistics items.

Military sources told Zagazola Makama that the encounter occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on July 24 as troops of 115 Task Force Battalion, supported by hunters, advanced on a clearance operation towards Rumirgo.

According to the sources, the troops made contact with the terrorists at Surajo Village, where the insurgents, on sighting the advancing forces, retreated in disarray without engaging the troops.

The fleeing terrorists abandoned three bicycles and two coolers, which were recovered by the troops during the operation.

No casualty was recorded among the troops, while clearance operations continued in the area to exploit the terrorists’ withdrawal and prevent their regrouping.

Military sources said further details of the operation would be communicated as exploitation efforts progress.

The operation forms part of sustained offensive operations by Operation HADIN KAI to clear terrorist enclaves and deny insurgents freedom of movement in the southern axis of Borno State.

Security sources added that the general security situation across the North-East theatre remains calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining high morale and operational readiness.
