Niger 🇳🇪| On July 17, three villages in Dorodji were attacked, and the ISSP ambushed a Nigerien army patrol near Doungouro.

🔶 Three villages in Dorodji, in the Dosso region, were attacked: Dorodji Koira Béri, Dorodji Sékou Koira, and Dorodji Koira Zéno.

🔴 The death toll is reported to be 33, with numerous civilians also wounded.

🔷 On Friday, July 17, around 4:00 PM, a Nigerien army patrol was ambushed near Doungouro by the ISSP. This convoy of security forces was attacked on the road between Téra and Bankilaré in the Tillabéri region while on an "administrative liaison mission," resulting in the deaths of many soldiers.

🔴 The toll is heavy for this terrorist attack: 16 soldiers were killed in addition to 23 wounded. The detachment commander was also reportedly killed during the assault.

⚫ 15 terrorists were neutralized, and 4 motorcycles were destroyed and 5 seized. Air support intervened and managed to drive the terrorists away.

ℹ️ This attack took place in the tri-border area, the meeting point and border crossing between Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali. This area has experienced significant security instability since the early 2010s, becoming particularly volatile since 2017-2018. It is a high-tension zone regularly attacked by armed terrorist groups such as ISIS or groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda.
