🟢 Couple hit by drone strike in Sagaing Region; wife killed

A local man told Golden Land that a husband and wife were hit and the wife was killed when the military junta carried out a drone bombing in Sagaing Region's Chaung-U Township.

The attack reportedly took place yesterday evening, 22nd July, when the military, who are stationed in the monastery of Kyunkyi village in the south-western part of Shwe Kyi Township, launched a drone strike towards Kyauk Taw village.

‘In fact, the villagers in that area have been displaced for a long time. Yesterday, as they were returning to their village, they ran into the military's drone bombing.’

Two people were hit by the drone strike; a 50-year-old man, U Myo Min Oo, was injured, while his wife, Daw Win Thay, was killed.

On 9 July, the military also fired at least seven artillery shells, which landed and exploded to the west of Sinthay village and to the north-east of Watay village in Shwegu Township, injuring a local resident, including a woman. 5 people were injured.

Currently, the military is continuously carrying out artillery shelling and airstrikes on villages along the borders of Sagaing, Monywa, Kyauk Kalat and Shwebo townships, resulting in daily injuries and deaths among the local population.

Revolutionary forces have urged residents to remain vigilant, as the military is firing artillery at villages inhabited by local people at any time.
