MSRF attacks Kalar 31 outpost based in Kyaukzar town

Mon State. The Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF) announced on 16 July that it had attacked a detachment of the 31st Light Infantry Division based in Kyaukzad town, Pa-an District.

The MSRF stated that the attack was carried out at around 8 a.m. on 16 July.

An MSRF official said, ‘After they came under attack, they shelled the village with artillery. As a result, the pagoda outside the village was damaged.’

He added that the outpost routinely carried out arrests and interrogations of civilians and fired artillery indiscriminately at nearby villages.

A local resident said, ‘They fired artillery into the village – I don't know how many shells. The villagers had to take shelter for a while. The soldiers were wounded. They then fired artillery back into the village, damaging houses.’

The attack was carried out by the Mon State Revolutionary Force – MSRF.
