Mizzima: Clashes broke out with Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) forces in Thaton Township, Mon State, resulting in the deaths of five members of the military.

The KNU-Central announced today (July 22) that the military column entered the area on July 5, and that two clashes had occurred.

In addition to the deaths on the military side, nine people were injured during the fighting, while no one on the revolutionary side was injured, according to the statement.

The statement said that the military group abducted and beat two men, a driver carrying Thai goods and Khun Htet Oo from Taktukone village, and they have not been released to this day.

In addition, they reportedly ransacked civilian homes near the pagoda's entrance between Taktukone Village and Kyet Khek Khat Village, looted household items, and then burned down six homes.

The military command reportedly includes over 100 troops from the 8th Battalion, Pyu Saw Htee Group, and the 314th Artillery Battalion under the 44th Infantry Division Headquarters.

The statement said that the military group and the revolutionary alliance fought the first battle between Tattukone Village and Kyet Khes Khat Village at around 7:30 am on July 5, and the second battle took place at around 2 pm on July 6.

The military regime, which was hurt during the fighting, forcibly confiscated the goods and vehicles of civilians carrying goods from Thailand, and also burned some of the goods and two trucks.

The KNU has stated that the military regime's military incursions and clashes have caused loss of life and property to local civilians, and the security situation in the region continues to be worrisome.
