One of the crimes was perpetrated in the northwest of the state, on the road that connects the municipalities of Sain Alto and Sombrerete, where a man was shot and left on the side of the road. According to police sources, the remains belong to former mayor Castrejón Valdez, who was also a civil works contractor for mining companies; although state authorities had not confirmed this information as of last night, the Sombrerete city council issued a statement lamenting the death, and the mayor of Zacatecas, Miguel Varela, expressed his “consternation” at what happened.
