SAA event in Mexico on Fri 10th July 2026

An inter-institutional operation deployed in the municipality of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, by elements of the National Guard, the Mexican Army and the Attorney General's Office of the State, resulted in the arrest of six hitmen belonging to a criminal cell and the seizure of an arsenal that included high-powered weaponry.

The coordinated intervention of federal and state forces made it possible to dismantle the point where the suspects were hiding, who were caught in the act in possession of war materiel and armored vehicles or vehicles used for illicit activities.

During the tactical raid, security personnel managed to secure a significant inventory of firearms for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces, as well as logistical supplies:

• A .50 caliber Barrett precision rifle, designed to penetrate armor.
• Three long guns 34 chargers
• 25 usable cartridges of various calibers
• Four ballistic vests
• Two fittings
• Two tactical helmets
• Two vehicles of unspecified characteristics
• A considerable number of handcrafted metal devices known as "tire spikes"

The six hitmen, along with the high-caliber weaponry, tactical supplies and seized vehicles, were transferred and placed at the disposal of the corresponding Public Prosecutor.
