The results of the ambush against an army convoy this Thursday, August 19 in Boni in central Mali have been revised upwards. There are now 15 dead and several injured. The day before Wednesday, 80 civilians and soldiers were killed in a jihadist attack on a military convoy in Burkina Faso . The Burkinabè authorities indicate that the attack took place in the so-called “three borders” area between Burkina Faso , Niger and Mali. A statement from the Malian army points out that it was a van bomb that first exploded in front of the military escort. This explosion was then followed by intense gunfire on the convoy, the document explains. At least 15 soldiers were killed and several others wounded announces a final report communicated by the army. This first gave an initial assessment of 11 dead. The attack has not yet been claimed. In the San region , unidentified armed men attacked this Wednesday, August 18, the commune of Mafouné in the circle of Tominian. According to local sources, the attackers burned the office of the sub-prefect and the antenna of a mobile telephone operator. That same day, in northern Burkina Faso, a military convoy escorting civilians was attacked by suspected jihadists . The death toll of the attack is 80, including 65 civilians, say the Burkinabè authorities. " The repetitive attacks against civilians and soldiers are the results of counterproductive responses put in place by the Sahel authorities ." At least that is what Ibrahim Maiga believes. The specialist in security issues in the Sahel says that African leaders have placed less emphasis on aspects complementary to the military and security response.
