ISWAP commander, foreign fighter killed in Cross Kauwa attack, another commander wounded

A senior ISWAP commander identified as Abu Hassan has reportedly been killed, while another commander sustained gunshot injuries during the recent terrorist attack on Cross Kauwa in Borno State, intelligence sources have told Zagazola Makama.

According to credible sources, Abu Hassan, described as one of the group’s Qaids operating from the Tumbunma axis, was among the commanders who led the assault on Cross Kauwa. He was reportedly killed during the confrontation.

The sources further disclosed that an unidentified foreign fighter, believed to be of Arab origin, also died during the attack.

Another ISWAP commander, identified as Aliyi Zabarmari, who reportedly led fighters from the Tumbunma enclave, sustained a gunshot wound that resulted in a fractured thigh during the fighting.

In addition, intelligence sources said another unidentified Arab fighter remains unaccounted for and is believed to be missing following the failed operation.

Security sources said the development is considered a significant setback for the terrorist group, as the casualties involved key field commanders who played prominent roles in coordinating attacks within the Lake Chad region.
