The National Investigation Agency (NIA), on August 19, conducted searches at three locations in Patna District of Bihar in the Jehanabad arms recovery case, reports The Pioneer. The searches were carried out at the premises of an accused and two suspects, who are suspected to be involved in procurement and transportation of arms / ammunitions for the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Bihar and Jharkhand. The case is an outcome of an FIR of police post Karauna, Jehanabad, in which a major haul of arms and ammunition was recovered from the possession of one accused Parshuram Singh. The NIA had re-registered the case on June 17 this year and took over the investigation. The NIA said in a statement, “During the searches conducted today, several incriminating materials including hand written documents, Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] literature/books have been seized. Digital storage devices in the form of pen drives have also been seized. Further investigations in the case continue.”
