An explosion has occurred at a townhouse in Södertälje. The area is cordoned off.

– There is no information that anyone was injured and there is no major damage to the facade, says Per Fahlström at the police.

The alarm about an explosion in Hovsjö in Södertälje was received by the police at half past ten on Sunday evening.

– There has been an explosion outside a townhouse, says Per Fahlström at the police.

No one is reported to have been injured and the material damage is marginal. The police have opened a preliminary investigation into the incident, which is classified as public destruction and a violation of the Explosives and Flammable Goods Act.

– We have cordoned off the area and will carry out a technical investigation to find traces and investigate what exploded, says Fahlström.

There is also door knocking in the area and a hunt for the perpetrator or persons is underway.
