Police have fired live ammunition at a man outdoors in Sandviken during an intervention.

The man was hit in the lower body and was taken to hospital.

A middle-aged man was shot when police opened fire after an intervention in Storvik in Sandviken at seven o'clock on Sunday evening, the police wrote on their website.

– The police found themselves in such a situation that they were forced to fire in response, says Wayne Seretis of the police and continues:

– After that, they had control of the situation and performed first aid on the man while waiting for an ambulance, and he was awake and talkative when he left the scene.

The man was hit in the lower body and has unclear injuries, he is under arrest and is suspected of a crime. Seratis does not want to go into more detail than that.

"We do not want to go into detail about the sequence of events that led to this. This will be led by the Special Prosecutor's Office and the Special Investigations Department, which is routine," he says.
