The Kawthaung Township People's Defense Organization (PDO) announced today that U Aye Min Latt (an ex-policeman) from Zone (1-2) of Khamaukgyi Town, Kawthaung Township, Tanintharyi Region, died after being shot while trying to flee as People's Defense comrades attempted to arrest him.

The Kawthaung PDO stated that U Aye Min Latt was arrested on July 6 because he had informed on and accused civilians of being PDFs to the terrorist military, leading to their arrest and execution, and had also raped a 12-year-old child.

According to the Kawthaung PDO's statement, U Aye Min Latt escaped at a certain point along the way while being escorted under arrest, and died after being hit by bullets fired by revolutionary comrades who pursued him.

The Kawthaung PDO has warned the public to stay away from areas where the military and its associates travel and operate, and to remain militarily vigilant, as they will escalate operations against them in accordance with their procedures.
