On 7 July 2026, unknown gunmen planted and detonated two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), one inside a parked vehicle and another inside a garbage container, near the Ministry of Tourism within the Damascus - Qanawat neighborhood of Damascus city, killing one person and injuring 36 people, including police personnel and the Deputy Minister of Tourism. Sources claimed that Syrian police forces indicated that the explosions occurred outside the security corridor for visiting French President Emmanuel Macron, who was staying at the Four Seasons Hotel in the same neighborhood, and that they had obtained a lead on the perpetrators. 1 fatality.
