On 4 July 2026, police forces launched a security operation in Al Soumariah neighborhood in Damascus - Mazzeh city, after an explosion was heard in the area, and raided several houses and arrested a number of people, while a drugs dealer resisted the arrest and threw hand grenades injuring three police members. There were no fatalities.
