On 6 July 2026, near Ka Yar village (Paungbyin township, Mawlaik district, Sagaing region), the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes and dropped two bombs at the Ka Yar gold mine area with two fighter jets that came from Homalin airbase around 11 am without an armed clash occurring. Eight locals (a 17-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man, a 50-year-old man, two 30-year-old men, a 20-year-old woman, a 14-year-old girl and a 41-year-old woman) who were working in the gold mines were injured and gold mining boats were damaged in Tha Ngar, Ka Yar and Hpa Yone Chaung gold mines.
