On 9 July 2026, morning, Kuwaiti forces intercepted 3 ballistic missiles, 1 cruise missile, and 10 armed drones launched by IRGC forces targeting US military sites in Kuwait. As a result of the interception, shrapnel from projectiles injured 1 civilian and caused material damages across several locations in the country (coded to Kuwait City) (Al Asimah). The IRGC claimed to target 4 US-hosting bases in Kuwait and Bahrain on that day in retalition for US strikes on Iran, including Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and the Naval Support Activity Bahrain (US 5th Fleet) base and King Isa Air Base in Bahrain. The IRGC claimed that the drones targeted the Patriot Defense System in Kuwait.
