On 8 July 2026, morning, Kuwait forces intercepted 2 ballistic missiles and 13 armed drones launched by IRGC forces targeting US forces in the country. As a result of the interception, shrapnel and projectiles caused disruptions to power and water services across several locations in the country (coded to Kuwait City) (Al Asimah). The IRGC claimed that their forces launched ballistic missiles and drones at '85 US military sites' in the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and the US Fifth Naval Fleet base, King Isa Air Base and the Khalifa bin Salman Port in Bahrain, in response to the US bombing of several locations in Iran starting a day earlier.
