On 8 July 2026, U.S. forces conducted air/drone strikes on Sirik Port (Sirik, Hormozgan). Iranian media announced that 3 individuals were killed and 15 others were injured without confirming their identity by shrapnel from the strike. According to a U.S. official, the strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, coastal surveillance systems, surface-to-air missile systems, anti-ship cruise missile bases, drone launch sites, and port facilities. The airstrikes were reportedly carried out in retaliation for the Iranian military attack against commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
