On 8 July 2026, U.S. forces conducted air/drone strikes on Qeshm Island (Qeshm, Hormozgan). According to a U.S. official, the strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, coastal surveillance systems, surface-to-air missile systems, anti-ship cruise missile bases, drone launch sites, and port facilities. The airstrikes were reportedly carried out in retaliation for the Iranian military attack against commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Casualties unknown.
