On 9 July 2026, morning, U.S. forces struck the Aq Tappeh Khan railway bridge in Aq Qala county (Coded as Aq Qala, capital of the county) (Aqqala, Golestan) with a cruise missile, creating a crater, damaging the railway tracks, and scattering debris around the bridge. The railway connects Iran to Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and supports regional freight transit. Parts of the bridge were damaged, but no casualties were reported.
