On 4 July 2026, in the afternoon, JNIM militants conducted two kamikaze drone attacks (likely IED-rigged drones based on the type of weapons the militant group has been using in previous attacks) on a Malian army camp in the village of Sofara (Fakala, Djenne, Mopti). 1 nine-year-old girl was killed, and a fourteen-year-old boy was injured.
