On 5 July 2026, four Cambodian soldiers were injured by shrapnel after an explosion occurred during a routine border patrol in Kouk Mon, Banteay Ampil (Oddar Meanchey) near the Cambodia-Thailand border. Cambodian authorities stated that the blast occurred shortly after their patrol encountered a Thai military patrol across a barbed-wire fence, while the Thai military denied any involvement, saying the Cambodian troop stepped on an old landmine on the Cambodian side.
