On June 26, an Indian Army Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad (BDDS) safely destroyed a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED), weighing approximately 2025 kilograms, that had been recovered from Sonpokhari (Munda Tola) village under the Manoharpur Police Station limits in West Singhbhum District, Jharkhand, according to News Aroma. The explosive device was initially detected on June 23. According to Police, the suspected bomb measured about 56 centimetres in length and 42.5 centimetres in diameter. Following its recovery, Security Forces (SFs) cordoned off the area and shifted the device to a secure location to prevent any threat to civilians. Acting on the directions of Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Renu, the device was successfully destroyed without any casualties or damage to property. Police stated that investigations are continuing to ascertain the origin of the explosive, while security has been intensified in the surrounding Saranda Forest area.
