On June 26, suspected cadres of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) exchanged fire at Kaiphundai Village under Tousem Police Station in Tamenglong District of Manipur, Northeast Now reports. According to local and official sources, the clash erupted after suspected NSCN-IM cadres allegedly ambushed a ZUF hideout, resulting in a gunfight that lasted approximately 30 minutes. No casualties or injuries were reported. The incident triggered panic among villagers, forcing several residents to flee to safer locations, and disrupted traffic movement along the Imphal-Jiribam Highway. Subsequently, a joint team of Manipur Police (MP) and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) was deployed to restore security. In a statement, ZUF condemned the attack and accused NSCN-IM of creating insecurity in the region.
