On July 9, the Army defused an old unexploded mortar shell recovered from an agricultural field in Kussalian village in the forward area of Poonch District of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. According to officials, the mortar shell is believed to be a remnant of past cross-border shelling in the border District. Resident Pardeep Kumar said the villagers refrained from touching the unexploded ordnance and promptly informed the nearby Army unit, enabling its safe disposal.
