SAA event in Punjab, Shahpur, Jalandhar District area, India on Thu 9th July 2026

Police on July 9 arrested a member of the foreign-based Lucky Patial gang, identified as Yodh Singh alias Yodha and seized two .32 bore pistols, two live cartridges, two empty cartridges, and an unregistered motorcycle from his possession, after an encounter at Shahpur village in Jalandhar District, reports The Tribune. The accused allegedly opened fire while attempting to evade arrest, prompting retaliatory fire in self-defence. He sustained a bullet injury to his left leg. Yodha was wanted in connection with the February 2026 firing at the gate of a private hospital in Jalandhar, allegedly carried out on the instructions of a Canada-based individual involved in a dispute with the hospital owner.|In a separate incident, Police on July 9 arrested Punjab Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Sahib Singh and his alleged accomplice, Kinder Kaur, after recovering 300 grams of heroin and INR 127,000 in suspected drug proceeds from their possession in Baba Jallan Colony, Chabal area in Tarn Taran District, reports The Tribune.
