On July 7, Security Forces (SFs) recovered a 15-kilogram Improvised Explosive Device (IED), a locally manufactured rocket launcher and a cache of indigenous weapons and explosive materials from a concealed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) dump in the Edsmeta Forest area near the Adingpar Camp in Narayanpur District, Chhattisgarh, during a joint operation launched on specific intelligence inputs, reports IANS and ETV Bharat. The operation was conducted jointly by the 53rd Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Chhattisgarh Police under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) Robinson Gudiya and ITBP Commandant Sanjay Kumar. During the search, the Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad (BDDS) safely neutralised the 15-kg pressure cooker IED through a controlled explosion. Other recoveries included one locally made rocket launcher, 16 indigenous 51-mm mortar rounds, five indigenous 84-mm rocket launcher rounds, 10 indigenous 40×46-mm Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) rounds, eight .303 rifle cartridges and four tactical pouches. Officials stated that the cache was intended for attacks on SFs. The recovered arms and explosives were seized for further investigation. Authorities added that sustained anti-CPI-Maoist operations and area domination patrols would continue to locate and destroy hidden arms dumps in the region.
