IED event in Odisha, Barapat Hill, Nuapada District area, India on Tue 7th July 2026

On July 7, Security Forces (SFs) recovered a huge cache of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) arms, explosives and logistical supplies from an underground dump in the Barapat Hill area of the Patadhara Reserve Forest under the Boden Police Station limits in Nuapada District, Odisha, during a joint search operation, reports Orissa POST. The operation was carried out by a joint team comprising the District Police, the District Voluntary Force (DVF), the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and the 19th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Addressing a press conference, Superintendent of Police (SP) Amritpal Singh stated that the recovered cache included two country-made guns, one country-made carbine with a magazine, 29 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 54 rounds of Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) ammunition, two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) concealed in tiffin boxes, eight gelatin sticks, about 1.5 kilograms of gunpowder mixed with urea, detonators, solar panels, battery chargers, electrical wire, CPI-Maoist uniforms, a medicine kit and other logistical materials. Police believe the dump had been concealed by CPI-Maoist cadres before Nuapada was declared Maoist-free on March 31, 2026.
