On July 3, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army was injured in an accidental landmine explosion during a routine area domination and surveillance patrol along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jhangar forward area of Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), The Times of India reported. The injured officer, Naib Subedar Hiteshwar Gogoi of the 14 Assam Regiment, was provided first aid at a nearby Army medical facility before being shifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for advanced treatment. Official sources stated that landmines deployed as part of the anti-infiltration security grid are occasionally displaced by heavy rains, causing accidental explosions. Similar incidents injured four Army personnel in the Nowshera sector in Rajouri District on June 16, two soldiers in Poonch on June 12, and killed two soldiers in Baramulla District on June 10.
