Grenade event in Manipur, Wakha Ching, Imphal East District area, India on Thu 2nd July 2026

On July 2, Manipur Police recovered a cache of arms, explosives, ammunition and military equipment during a search operation in the Wakha Ching area under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East District, reports Manipur Police on X. The recovered items included two .32 pistols, one 12-bore pump-action Single Barrel Breech Loading (SBBL) gun, one double-barrel gun, one single-barrel gun, 36 hand grenades, three hand grenade detonators, one Lathode shell, two 2-inch mortar high-explosive (HE) bombs, five tube launchers, two .32 pistol magazines, 86 live rounds of ammunition, 20 barrel cartridges, nine 7.62 mm empty cases, and military fatigues comprising jackets and boots. No arrests were reported in connection with the recovery.
