On July 2, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large consignment of heavy weapons and drugs during smuggling in Teknaf Upazila (Sub-District) of Cox's Bazar District, reports Prothom Alo. According to the BGB, the border force deployed on the border, the amount of drug seizures this year has increased compared to the previous year (2025). BGB members seized two kilograms of ice drugs (crystal meth) and heavy weapons like G-3 rifles. The smugglers, however, escaped in the incident. Teknaf-2 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Hanifur Rahman Bhuiyan said, "In addition to border security, BGB is always alert and proactive in preventing smuggling of drugs, arms and ammunition. Teknaf Battalion's intelligence surveillance, regular patrols and special operations have been continued to suppress border crimes. He said that necessary legal action is being taken regarding the recovered drugs, arms, ammunition, easy bikes and other goods."
