The military announced that troops had shot dead a Hezbollah operative in Bint Jbeil who had killed a dog of the Oketz canine unit. During the scans on Tuesday, the Hezbollah operative opened fire from a building on the forces, the military said, killing the Oketz dog. The dog's handler, a female combat soldier operating with the reservists, returned fire at the operative. Later, additional troops from the reserve brigade surrounded the gunman and called on him to surrender. After he reached for his weapon, the soldiers shot him dead. No soldiers were injured in the incident. Initially, the IDF reported that the Oketz handler had killed the gunman, but later revised this after members of the reserve unit reported that they were the ones to have fired the deadly shots. The captured operative from the same incident was taken to Israel to be questioned by the Intelligence Directorate's Unit 504, which specializes in human intelligence, the IDF adds.
