One person killed, one house damaged after rockets hit four locations in Lashio

In northern Shan State, Residents of Lashio told Myanmar Now that one person was killed and one house was damaged after rockets struck and exploded in four locations across the town at 4:50 pm today, 9 July. 

At 4:50 p.m. today, 9th July, in areas of Lashio Township including Ward 6, Ward 10, the military hospital area and the university campus, shells landed and exploded, with loud blasts heard and clouds of smoke rising, It was reported that one person was killed and a residential house in Ward 6 was damaged as a result of the rocket attacks.

"As far as we know so far, it has hit Ward 6, Ward 10, and the military hospital side. Some are saying that the university has also been hit, though this has not yet been confirmed. One person in Ward 10 has been killed. Only one house in Ward 6 was damaged. I haven't heard of any other casualties yet." a resident of Lashio told the Yangon New Era news agency.

The MNDAA captured the city of Laoshan on 3 August 2024, and following Chinese mediation in Kunming, China, held talks with the military council in 2025, MNDAA forces were subsequently forced to withdraw from the city.

Since then, the military junta has regained control of Lashio, while MNDAA forces have held control of the surrounding areas and villages.
