In Mykolaiv, police suspect a 21-year-old man of shooting with an air pistol during a conflict in a supermarket. According to the investigation, he shot a shopper in the eye. The injured man was hospitalized.

According to police, an argument broke out between two women at the supermarket checkout. The men accompanying them also got into a conflict that escalated into a fight.

"During the fight, a 21-year-old man pulled out an air pistol and fired several shots. As a result of the hooliganism, the young man hit a 23-year-old man in the eye area, causing bodily injuries."

"The man was taken from the scene by ambulance. The victim is currently in the hospital, and doctors assess his condition as satisfactory," the police press service wrote.

The air pistol used during the conflict was seized by law enforcement officers and sent for examination, the department added.

A 21-year-old man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators have charged the young man with "Hooliganism" and "Intentional Serious Bodily Injury." The sanctions include up to eight years in prison.

The court will soon choose a preventive measure for the suspect, the police added.
