On 27 July 2021, PKK-YJA STAR militants carried out a remote explosive attack targeting an armored Turkish army vehicle near Asagi Olcek village in Yuksekova district of Hakkari. 19 soldiers were injured in the attack. HPG (PKK) claimed at least 6 Turkish soldiers were killed in the attack but this was not confirmed by other sources that reported the event.
