On 27 July 2021, PKK militants carried out a remote explosive attack targeting Turkish army soldiers between Gire Sehid Derwes and Gunde Xelifan areas (Kurdish names) in Xakurke (Wadi Khakurik) region of Erbil. At least one Turkish soldier was killed in the attack, as reported by HPG.
