On 28 June 2026, a Sokoto militia planted 2 IEDs along the Sabon Birni-Kurawa road, coded to Kurawa (Sabon Birni, Sokoto) after an attack on Kurawa and neighboring communities (coded separately). 2 people on a motorcycle struck one of the IEDs a kilometer from Kurawa and were injured. Civilians in a car detonated another IED which destroyed the vehicle and injured the passengers of the vehicle. There were no fatalities.
