On 2 July 2026, near Palmarito (Fortul, Arauca), unidentified assailants detonated an explosive device as an army convoy passed along the road connecting Fortul and Tame. The explosion created a large crater beside the road and was heard in the urban area of Fortul and nearby veredas. Preliminary information indicates that no soldiers were injured and the convoy was not damaged. Authorities have not attributed the attack, though ELN and FARC dissident structures are present in the area. There were no fatalities.
