RPG event in Burkina Faso on Sat 4th July 2026

Simultaneous with the coordinated attack by the FLA and JNIM across Mali on July 4, JNIM also conducted notable attacks against government forces in Burkina Faso. The Burkinabè BIR 29 base in Di, near Dedougou in northern Burkina Faso was attacked, during which 22 soldiers and militiamen were killed, four vehicles destroyed and weapons, motorcycles and ammunition captured by the insurgents. Another attack took place in southwest Burkina Faso near Gaoua and resulted in the death of 18 soldiers and militiamen and the destruction of a military vehicle, the second image shows the war booty as well. Other more minor attacks also took place in northwest and northeast Burkina Faso.
