On 23 June 2026, the Malian army and Africa Corps carried out a FPV drone attack (likely an IED-rigged drone), killing 2 Songhai civilians on a motorcycle near the village of Abakoira (Bamba, Bourem, Gao). Local sources, including FLA, identified the victims as herders. JNIM released a statement condemning the attack, saying that the Malian army and Africa Corps killed 2 individuals, fired randomly, and looted civilian property in the village.
