According to Ukrinform, the Astra Telegram channel reported this. Residents reported hearing numerous explosions in Novomoskovsk on the night of June 25–26. It is claimed that the Azot plant was targeted in the attack. According to Astra’s OSINT analysis of eyewitness videos, smoke is rising from the direction of the Azot chemical plant. The video showing smoke after the attack was filmed approximately 8 kilometers from the facility. Dmitry Milyaev, governor of the Tula region, confirmed damage “at an industrial facility in Novomoskovsk” and to a power line. The Novomoskovsk Azot Joint Stock Company is Russia’s largest producer of ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers and one of the industry’s leading enterprises in terms of the types and volume of products manufactured. The plant produces mineral fertilizers, ammonia, organic plastics and resins, chlorine, caustic soda, calcium chloride, concentrated and high-purity nitric acid, argon, and methanol. Since 2002, JSC Azot has been part of the EuroChem holding company. In addition, a fire broke out at the Novomoskovsk State District Power Plant following the attack; NASA’s fire monitoring system detected it. The installed electrical capacity of the plant, which is a subsidiary of the Novomoskovsk Joint Stock Company Azot, is 233.7 MW, and its thermal capacity is 302.4 Gcal/h. The Novomoskovsk State District Power Plant supplies heat and hot water to 60% of the city’s residential sector and public facilities. Meanwhile, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that at least 47 drones were allegedly shot down over the Russian capital and the Moscow region overnight. According to the BBC’s Russian service, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have intercepted and destroyed 660 aircraft-type drones. Russian officials described the attack as the largest of the year. Read also: War update: 257 clashes on front lines; fiercest fighting in Pokrovsk sector The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Rostov, Voronezh, Tula, Ryazan, and Astrakhan regions of the Russian Federation, the Moscow region, the temporarily occupied Crimea, and the waters of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
